November 2, 2011 | Birth Stories
Hi
Our son Hayden Vaugh Korb was born on Sept. 22, 2011. He was born at 7:05pm- 7lbs. 1oz and 20 inches long. Our birth story started with a miscarriage of our first pregnancy. After some healing and time, we decided to try again and found out we were pregnant right after the first of the year in 2011. Gratefully, we had a normal pregnancy. Thanks to the midwives, I felt very prepared for labor and knew exactly what to look for. I went into labor on Wednesday night about 9:00pm and called Angela (she was on call) to let her know that we were in labor. She talked me through what to expect for the next few hours and told me to check in with her in the morning or if something changed. We tried to rest and checked in with Angela in the morning. She talked me through a couple of contractions and told us to stay home and call back in a couple of hours. By about 11:00am the contractions were very strong and we checked in again. This time, Sarit was on call and she talked me through a contraction and we decided that it was time to come in. By the time we were settled, I was already 6 centimeters dilated and close to moving to 8 centimeters. Labor progressed and with the help of Sarit, my husband, and my mom I delivered Hayden without any pain medicine. We did not know the sex of our baby and were thrilled when my husband was able to say “here is our son.” Throughout the whole pregnancy and delivery, I felt supported and respected in the decisions that I needed to make for myself and my body. I trusted Sarit to guide the process and allowed my body to do the work that it needed to bring our baby into the world. We are so happy with the care that Hayden and I received and grateful that we have BNM to thank for the healthy delivery of our baby.
